Please do NOT set your speaking fees too low. I know it’s tempting… But don’t.
“How much should I charge when starting out?” That’s the question I get a lot. I will not attempt to answer it in details here. It’s a bit too complex. And it depends on your level of credibility as well as your qualifications.
But I can assure you most emerging speakers always inadvertently set their fees too low. The main reason is because they lack of self-confidence.
Here’s a hint about fees: Click here to read the rest »

Learn From Those Who Are Living Your Dream.
Alright, we talked about not taking advice from people who are out of touch with reality. But you should also avoid taking advice from people who are not in the trenches.
Simply put, seek out advice from people who are living your dreams versus those who still dreaming and trying to sell that dream. Click here to read the rest »

Rich Gurus Aren’t Always Right. Do not just drop your load and start following their advice.
I remember contacting one of the gurus in the speaking field for advice to print my one sheet. He referred me to one of his high priced suppliers. Well, I called to get a quote. I almost fell out of my chair when the guy quoted the price. I couldn’t believe it.
Now, I’m sure my speaker guru friend meant well. He honestly wanted to help me. But he forgot that I was not making his millions. I was still struggling financially. Click here to read the rest »

Avoid the voodoo advice out there.
Just like in any field, there are many ways to succeed in the speaking business. As a result, you are bound to hear many conflicting pieces of advice from different people out there.
Be very careful.
Listen, if you keep going around taking advice from everyone, you’ll be confused. Do you know why? It’s because what works for one person may not work for you depending on where you are on your journey. Click here to read the rest »

Resist the temptation to dump your entire brain in one book. You’ll lose your reader for good. The key is to spoon-feed them your information in a structured way.
If you heed this advice, writing will become very easy for you.
What I’m trying to convey to you here is neither time, money or being a good writer is the reason why you may be hesitant to write. The only thing that’s really in your way is you. Click here to read the rest »

Can You Really Write A Book?
Yes!
Again, let me be your proof. I did it… You can, too. Not only you can write the book in no time, you can also publish it yourself in no time.
Do you know why most people never write their books?
It’s because they are confused and overwhelmed. As a result, they keep procrastinating. And that spirit of confusion comes from the urge of wanting to dump everything they know on the pages of the book. Click here to read the rest »

It Isn’t About Your Impressive Background Or Education
I’m VERY serious about it. Regardless of your background or education, with little efforts, you can become an authority in your field in no time.
Let’s see, diet is one topic that has been around for hundreds of years if not thousands. I don’t think someone can come up with new concepts or ideas about it.
But do you notice how many books are written on diet? Are these authors saying anything new? No. I think they are saying the same things in a different way. Click here to read the rest »

Okay, how do you position yourself as an authority or expert in your field if there’s nothing new under the sun? Great question! And I’m glad you asked.
